Sales and performance targets

Sales and performance targets

Open Performance → Targets → Add target plan. Give the plan a name, choose
its scope, year and metrics, and declare its currency, sales tax basis and
purpose: an agreed budget or a working target. Targets are monthly. Company,
category, remit and buyer plans stay separate, so overlapping budgets are never
added together.

A buyer plan covers that person’s assigned remits. A remit or buyer plan can be
narrowed to one category. Scope membership is recorded with each revision; a
reassignment or range change shows Scope changed until new targets are
reviewed. Administrators prepare, link and activate plans. Other people can read
activated plans only when they have access to the entire recorded scope.

Upload a workbook

In Input & sync, choose Upload a file. XLSX and CSV files can be up to
5 MB. Choose the workbook tab and map its scope, month and metric columns. For
sales-only plans, months may be spread across columns. Match scope labels,
category aliases or buyer emails, or use stable scope IDs from the template.
Ambiguous matches and duplicate scope/month/metric values must be corrected.

Choose Build review, inspect the proposed changes, then Activate revision.
Nothing changes the active targets until activation. A replacement is the whole
plan: omitted values are shown as removals. History retains previous revisions.
Agreed category sales plans also feed the monthly category sales charts and
Performance target-risk reads. Earlier category workbooks remain available
through Upload targets; an activated plan takes precedence for the values it
has published, and withdrawing a value does not revive an older upload.

Start with a template

Choose Download Excel or Download CSV for twelve monthly rows per selected
scope. The first columns are the scope’s readable name, its stable ID and month;
the remaining columns are the selected metrics. Leave unused targets blank.
Numeric zero is an explicit zero target. Write margin percentages as 35 or
35% for a 35% target. Scope IDs should stay unchanged when entering figures.

Upload the completed file, or save it as a Google Sheet or Excel workbook and
connect it. To prepare a live tab directly, choose Create linked template,
select a customer-owned workbook and choose Create template & link. Twelfth
adds a new tab and keeps existing tabs intact. A blank template says Awaiting
figures
; enter targets, then sync and review them. Creating an entirely new
workbook uses the download/save/connect path.

Keep a spreadsheet in sync

Connect sheet supports Google Sheets and Excel workbooks in OneDrive or
SharePoint. Choose a workbook or paste its link, select its target tab, read the
columns and confirm their mapping. Google Sheets must be shared with the reader
address shown in the picker; template creation needs Editor access. Excel uses
the workspace’s connected Microsoft 365 account. Template creation needs its
files-write permission in Settings → Integrations → Microsoft 365.

Linked tabs are read hourly, or immediately with Sync now. New figures stage
a revision under Review changes. Active targets remain in place until an
administrator activates that revision. Unchanged snapshots create no new version.
Formula errors and unavailable sources show a source error and preserve the
last activated targets. Tab renaming is safe; deletion of the linked tab requires
detaching and reconnecting the intended source.

Use Change column mapping when the layout changes. Pause sync holds the
current targets; Detach source keeps them and permits file replacements.
Archive plan stops sync and removes the plan from the default list while
preserving history. Restoring a plan checks for conflicting active budgets.

Read targets against actuals

Targets & actuals shows each month and metric against the current activated
revision. Sales and GP comparisons require compatible currency and tax basis.
GP and margin from canonical sales use current catalogue costs; warehouse GP
without declared cost provenance is marked Basis not comparable. Margin gaps
are percentage points, and margin percentages are never summed.

Future months say Not started. Current months are labelled Month in
progress
; incomplete actuals have Partial coverage and no overall gap.
Company/remit comparisons also check for trading outside managed categories.
Missing data stays unavailable rather than becoming zero. Historical revisions
show the values recorded then; the ordinary comparison uses the current plan.

Right-click a plan’s name to copy a link to that plan. The link keeps the
workspace and still respects the recipient’s remit access.
