Microsoft Teams
Ask twelfth in a direct chat, group chat or channel. Owners and admins enable
it under Settings → Comms & chat → Microsoft Teams. If the card offers
Request Microsoft Teams, request pilot access first.
How it works
Two steps are needed, in either order: enable Teams in twelfth and have your
Microsoft 365 admin install the app. twelfth recognises members by their work
email and answers within their current access.
An unlinked participant in an existing shared thread needs an admin-approved
thread category.
Everyone in that conversation can see the answer.
The switch in twelfth
Choose Add to Microsoft Teams, download the app package and send it to your
Microsoft 365 admin. The install card changes from Pending to Installed
when Teams reports the install. The app must also be enabled in twelfth to answer.
What your Microsoft 365 admin does
Use the Teams admin centre.
1. Allow custom apps in your tenant
Allow custom apps under Teams apps → Manage apps → Org-wide app settings.
To let users upload packages themselves, also allow uploads in their app setup policy.
Policy changes can take time to reach the Teams client.
2. Upload the twelfth app package
Under Manage apps → Upload new app, upload the zip from twelfth.
Do not unzip or repackage it.
3. Make it available
Make twelfth available to the intended people or teams. They can find it
under Apps → Built for your org. See Microsoft’s custom-app instructions.
Using it
Open a direct chat, or add the app to a team or group chat and @mention twelfth.
It answers in the thread. With app version 1.1.0 or later, follow-ups in a
channel thread can omit the mention. Owners and admins can choose
Only when @mentioned in twelfth’s Comms & chat settings.
Updating the app
Version 1.1.0 adds ChannelMessage.Read.Group consent for channel follow-ups.
Download the current package, update twelfth in Teams apps → Manage apps,
and approve the permission. Older installations continue to answer @mentions
and direct chats.
Manage
- Conversations: shared conversations; private direct chats are counted, not named.
- Settings: recognition, health, access rules and Turn off.
Turning Teams off in twelfth does not uninstall the app from your tenant.
Health
Needs attention or Not answering names the connection problem. Check the
Health panel for the last failure and required action.
Who is told when it breaks
twelfth emails workspace ops contacts about provider failures, at most once a
day per problem. Choose those contacts under Operational alerts.
Who sees what
People in a channel or group chat can read the answer. Use a direct chat for a
private question. Administrators see shared conversations; private-channel
titles are restricted and direct chats are counted without being named.
What twelfth can do here
Ask the same retail questions as in the app. Answers are text with an Open in
twelfth link for the full session. Upload files and view charts in twelfth;
scheduled channel briefings are not available yet.
