Ask Twelfth in a channel or direct message. Owners and admins connect under
Settings → Comms & chat → Slack → Add to Slack and approve the install.
Add Twelfth to the channels it should use, including private channels.
Asking in a channel
@mention twelfth to start a thread. Follow-ups can omit the mention once it
has answered. Owners and admins can turn this off under
Follow-ups without a mention.
Your Slack email must match your Twelfth membership. Answers follow your access
and are visible to everyone in the thread. An unlinked participant needs an
admin-approved thread category.
Direct messages and questions in progress
Use a direct message for a private question. An 👀 reaction means Twelfth is
working. Follow-ups can queue behind the current answer; Twelfth tells you when
it has queued one. Continue the same conversation in Twelfth if you prefer.
Use a channel canvas
Twelfth can read the channel’s canvas as background context, up to 6,000
characters, cached for five minutes. Your data access stays the same. Missing
or unreadable canvases do not stop answers.
Save an answer
- React 📝 or 📌 on Twelfth’s answer in a channel.
- It is saved under Saved from twelfth, with your name and the date.
- A ✅ confirms the save.
You need a recognised Twelfth membership. A canvas is created if the channel
has none and its Slack plan allows one. Keep the section heading for later saves.
If saving fails, Twelfth privately explains why. Missing permissions require a
Slack admin to reinstall the app and approve the updated access.
Reactions in Slack and Twelfth
Reactions on completed Slack questions and answers also appear in Twelfth.
Reactions added in Twelfth appear in Slack as the Twelfth bot.
Manage
Manage shows the connected workspace, channels, custom emojis and connection
settings. Disconnecting revokes the bot token and stops Slack posting.
